Purchasing a Photo By Jim McClain Helps Those In Need
Want to purchase photos from me? Managing and operating a photography business is a full-time job. There are many components involved that the average person is not aware of. Like any business, there are bookkeeping & records to keep, hours of office work, clients to meet, schedules to make and details to attend to. A photographer must also attend and participate in showings, spend a great deal of time processing and developing photographs, including the mounting and framing for display from a wide assortment of materials customers would want to select from.
All of the photos I share on this website are for sale. The cost is quite reasonable.
Most photographers work on assignments that will bring enough income to support the business of art. These can be coordinating shoots for print media like cards, stationary and calendars, even mugs and t-shirts. Clients may want photos of specific locations, portrait sessions and events. It’s a business that can keep the average photographer constantly on the go.
The investment in a photography business can be quite large, as it is with most businesses. But the financial obligations are just the beginning. It will take many hours of each day and a great deal of energy and stamina. A photographer who hopes to make a living performing their craft must be in good health. My health has been deteriorating for 10 years due to severe emphysema. I am physically unable to do what it takes to operate a business. I know because I spent 35 years in a career (flooring), 17 of those last years as the owner of my own business.
Even though I am unable to shoot regularly, I still practice my art as often as I can. All of the photos I share on this website are for sale. The cost is quite reasonable. You reimburse me for any printing and shipping costs, write a separate check as a donation to a Plumas County based charitable organization and take the print to your local frame shop to have it mounted. How much is the donation? I will let you decide the amount and to which local charity you will make it out to (I have a list).
This… allows me the opportunity to share my photos with you and still help children, families and good causes.
This may be a little unconventional, but it works. You see, I used to be able to donate to charities many of those years I spent in business. Now I am unable to and my pension rules prevent me from earning any additional income without penalty and putting my other benefits in jeopardy. This “method” allows me the opportunity to share my photos with you and still help children, families and good causes. I hope you will be generous for me. If you want to purchase photos for your home or office, contact me to discuss it.
